10 Website critiques

Facebook: www.facebook.com

Overall presentation:

The first thing I notice about the layout of this site is that there is a lot going on, and it is very cluttered. Aside from all of these things, I do find it engaging.

Usability:

Sometimes it is hard to find things that you need, especially if you are new to the site. When I first joined facebook it took me at least a week to figure anything out.

Organization:
Everything besides the logo and buttons are highlightable. It seems like things that you can't click, don't highlight. Besides text. I can't say I can tell why certain things are highlighted like they are. The visual hiarchy is good, although everything seems to be around the same level of hiarchy. There aren't many different levels.

Tumblr: www.tumblr.com

Overall presentation :

Simple and efficient, yet very appealing to the eye. It looks professional and legitiment.

Usability:

Everything is right in front of you, just a click away. Everything is easy to use and easy to find. Very user friendly, and could not be more simpler.

Organization:

I can see why the images highlight like they do and why the text highlight like they do. All the visual hiarchy makes perfect sense. The “controls” are in big at the very top, which are the most important.
